We Have a Busy Sunday School
Our Sunday School meets concurrently with the worship service on Sunday morning at 10:45am. The children stay for the first twenty minutes or so of the service then head over to the Nolan House after the children's theme time. Sunday School classes run until noon, which gives parents a chance to grab a cup of coffee in the Fellowship Hall after church.
We use a multi-disciplinary curriculum that helps the children learn through the use of stories, art, music, cooking, games, science and videos. On April 6, 2008, the Sunday School began a curriculum unit called Peacemakers that focuses on the stories of women and men who tried to bring peace and justice to all of God’s people. Their stories are an inspiration and help us learn how to be peacemakers today. Using the following Biblical references: Genesis 29-33, the story of Jacob and Esau; I Samuel 25:2-35, the story of David and Abigail; Amos 5:25, a prophet for justice; and Matthew 5:9, the Beatitudes, the children will explore how, even in Bible times, being a peacemaker often took courage and skill. They will learn that peacemaking is based in fairness, justice, equality and love. The children will be asked to commit to being peacemakers in their own homes, schools and communities.
We Have Two Youth Groups
Our church has two youth groups: middle school (6-8th grade) and senior high (9-12th grade). Our middle school youth group meets Sunday mornings in the Nolan House from 9:30 to 10:30am. Our senior high youth group meets Sunday evenings in the Nolan House from 6:45 to 8:00pm. Both groups engage in games, activities and discussion at our weekly meetings. We also believe in the power of travel to broaden minds, so we look for opportunities to travel for both fun and work camps. Our motto is, "Have bus, will travel!"
